Position Overview
The Photo Editor is responsible for color correcting & retouching imagery, as well as assisting the lead photographer with photoshoots. They will have a heavy hand in assisting the photographer with equipment setup/breakdown, set builds, studio clean-ups, file structure and naming, and on-set assistance as needed. This role supports making sure all photo assets are shot correctly, edited with accuracy, and delivered on time.The position reports directly to the Lead Photographer. It is a part-time position and is housed in the marketing department and photo studio of Shop Avara’s home offices in Dallas, TX.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Edits images to our photography standards, including retouching, cropping, and color correcting with a tight turnaround
  • Assists in shooting products and accessories at photo shoots and our in-house studio
  • Ensure imaging standards are maintained, ultimately owning the technical quality of the final output.
  • Catalog, name, crop, color manage, and, when necessary, spot retouch a high volume of image assets under tight deadlines
  • Consistent quality management of digital images that are within established standards, which can quickly be edited and made web-ready.
  • Be able to retouch products and the model image with a fast turnaround time.
  • Ensure a high level of consistent technical quality and aesthetics for all photography created and distributed.
  • Work closely with the Lead Photographer on all concepts and execution.
  • Understand deadlines and schedules in order to help prioritize product and image organization in a high-volume environment.
  • Troubleshoots any technical issues that arise on set in regards to the camera, lighting, iPads, cables, and additional equipment
Desired Skills and Abilities
  • Strong digital photography, studio lighting, and file management skills
  • Knowledge of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop
  • Passion for the technical side of studio photography
  • Clear communicator with great interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of both natural and studio lighting
  • Retouching and color-correcting skills
  • A self-starter, with a strong sense of teamwork in a fast-high-volume, deadline-driven environment
  • Approaches challenges and demands with a flexible, problem-solving, and positive attitude.
  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Ability to work 20-25 hours a week at our Dallas, TX HQ studio and offsite shoot locations
